Birch tree.

  1. I believe you think about, at least on some level, what pulls or directs the viewer's eye and this image is a good example of that: strong horizontal line versus the vertical, contrast in colours with light bark against the dark peeking in from the right of the frame, the circular lines on the white bark. Visual pull is the way we interact with the pic's elements and our eye judges the relationships between the elements as balanced or not. Here the rule of thirds also balances the photo. The viewer feels enjoyment by the harmony, the fit of the details within the frame. As well, upon reflection, I'm conceptually curious about the "scars" on the birch skin and what seems to be a suture line separating the rough from the smooth. A very tactile image. Much to discuss and think about here. Quite multi-layered. Again, I like being pushed.
