  1. Quite a beautiful photograph, Heather. There is something within you pushing to get out: to reveal the emotional power of nature, the beauty and grandeur of nature, especially in the commonplace we often overlook. This image is not a mere snapshot; it is emotion sewn to thought. There is simple and clear honesty here and that is always potent in art of any kind.
In addition, you deftly make use of light. You've trained yourself to see it and you find the quality of light significant. I know - especially true in nature photography. Like paint, the light here is soft, gentle, fluid creating muted tones, quiet tones. Light leads to texture, and for me the attracting gravity force in this painting is its texture. I want to slowly run my fingers over this velvety photo. I want to taste the dark chocolate in the foreground. The image slowly and smoothly moves across the retina and the total effect is quite sensuous. Sometimes, Heather, your art can be quite astonishing.
