Of the forest floor.

  1. I'm usually moved by what you feel and I'm usually intrigued by what you think. Many of your photographs center on time and its effects, cosmic time, natural time, not the mouse-wheeling and chunk-measured time of society. Here you ask us to see what's beneath the "world": Look to your feet. Look to deep earth and its rich loam of topsoil. With time, the old growth fades away, melts into the forest floor, but it never really dies, does not really disappear as it gives nourishment to new growth. Cycles, rebirth, renewal, one of the dominate motifs in your art. Appropriate imagery for this season of autumn.
I'm reminded of something John Muir wrote: "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Your photos are a creative testament to that sentiment. And, indirectly, we get to share what you "receive".
