Natural selection designed our brain to seek out patterns, to impose a familiar pattern upon random disorder. Here, I'm struck by the clear and sober face staring, glaringly, out at me. It's a totem figure, a ritual mask rich in symbolic force. Almost nightmarish in effect. Again, I envy you your vision - something that cannot be taught.
